LOGGI is the perfect product to make a difference in the fight against deforestation, and offers consumers a guilt-free option to heating their homes. Consumers can confidently choose LOGGI knowing they are supporting sustainable practices that combat deforestation.
Firewood consumption in first world countries
Firewood remains an affordable source of energy in high−income countries (Warde, 2019). Annually, the UK consumes approximately 2 million tonnes of firewood (Source: UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs). Firewood accounts for 25% of heating energy in Sweden (Statistics Sweden, 2007, cited in Lindroos, 2011), and for 9% of household's energy consumption in Finland (Vertin and Grmek, 2009), and half of the households in Norway have wood stoves (Faull, 2018). In Canada and the United States of America, firewood is used in tens of millions of households (Skog and Watterson 1984;Borchert et al. 2010;Warde 2019).
How can LOGGI make a difference?
LOGGI is dedicated to advancing the circular economy by transforming agricultural waste into upcycled, purpose-driven products. In line with the European Union's Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR), which aims to prevent deforestation and forest degradation linked to products on the EU market, LOGGI offers an ideal solution. Consumers can confidently choose LOGGI fire logs for their home heating needs, knowing they are supporting sustainable practices that combat deforestation.
What is the EUDR?
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), effective from December 30, 2024, aims to prevent deforestation and forest degradation associated with products placed on the EU market, including wood, wood products and charcoal, by requiring due diligence and ensuring products are deforestation-free and legally produced.
The EUDR's goal is to minimize the EU's contribution to global deforestation and forest degradation by ensuring products consumed within the EU are not linked to deforestation or illegal logging
Wood and wood products must be deforestation-free, meaning they cannot originate from land that was converted from forest to agricultural use after December 31, 2020.
